Grace M.  Peterson
Grace M. Peterson, 92, of West Belmar, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2017 at the Sunnyside Manor in Wall. She was born in Rumson and resided in West Belmar for her entire married life with her husband Harold “Pete”. She was a parishioner to the West Belmar United Methodist Church. Grace was a co-founder of the AARP Wall Chapter, member of the United Methodist Women, past president of the West Belmar Extension Group, and Pride of Wall Seniors. In her spare time she was an excellent baker and seamstress.

She was predeceased by her husband Harold W. “Pete” Peterson Jr. in 2013; brothers, Frank McGirr in 1977 and Raymond C. McGirr in 2005; sisters, Gloria Sharpe, Wayne Higham and Charlotte Martin. Grace is survived by her son Vernon Peterson and his wife, Doris of Springfield, MA; Joyce LaSala and her husband, John of Wilmington, NC; a brother, William V. McGirr of Sacramento, CA; six loving grandchildren; and one great grandson.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, August 13, 2017 from 2:00 PM to 6:00PM. Relative and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Monday, August 14, 2017 at 10:30 AM for her 11:00AM service. Interment will follow at Fair View Cemetery, 456 Highway 35, Middletown. Memorial contributions in Grace’s name may be made to the Turn-A-Frown Around Foundation, Inc., 11 Spring St., Freehold, NJ 07728.
