Obituary for Walter R. Reitsma

Walter R.  Reitsma
Walter R. Reitsma, 33, of Howell passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 20, 2017. He was a lifelong resident of Howell, having attended Freehold Township High School where he was a varsity wrestler. A recent graduate of Rutgers University, Walter earned his occupational therapy assistant certificate, during which time he worked for Bancroft NeuroRehab, Brick. Walter was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp, having served overseas in both Kuwait and Iraq. He was a member of the VFW Post 928, Folsom, PA. He enjoyed the outdoors, was an avid reader and movie watcher, a poker player and a Devils fan. Walter loved life and making others laugh. His proudest moments were watching his nephew wrestle and supporting the Howell Rebels wrestling team.
He was predeceased by his mother, Kathleen Reitsma in 2015. Walter is survived by his siblings, Jeanine Reitsma of Howell and John Reistma of Howell; nephew, Shane Reitsma of Howell; fiancee, Jeanne-Marie Catlin of Brick; father, John Reitsma of Hampton, NY; aunt, Patricia Murphy of Howell; uncles, Carl Gutt of Absecon and Joseph Gula of South Plainfield; his best friend, Bill Murray; and numerous cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM funeral service on Friday, July 28, 2017 at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
