Gary Paul Fuerst, 57, of Toms River, formerly of Blandon PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 after succumbing to an illness. Born in New York City, Gary was raised in Piscataway, NJ. He was a star varsity athlete in high school in many sports with football being his passion. He received a scholarship and played football for Virginia Tech playing offensive center and long snapper and was a loyal "Hokie" alum.
After college, Gary went on to pursue his other passion in the restaurant business, making his living managing restaurants in NJ & PA. Gary was known for being loved by his staff and colleagues, though his true love was devoted to his entire family. Gary married, fathered and raised 2 children, Mitchell & Lauren, who he was so very proud of. He later moved to Toms River to care for his ailing late mother.
Always the life of the crowd, Gary's smile and laughter will be forever missed.
Gary was predeceased by his parents, Walter in 2009 and Gertrude in 2015 and his brother, Gordon in 2008. Gary is survived by his wife, Donna of Blandon, PA; children, Mitchell and Lauren; his brother, Ron, his sister-in-law, Mary and nephew, Robert Fuerst of Ramsey, NJ.
