Obituary for Frank R. Svoboda Jr.

Frank R.  Svoboda Jr.
Frank R. Svoboda, 67, of Monroe Township, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the Princeton Medical Center. He was born in Miami, raised in Brooklyn, and settled in Manalapan in 1988 before retiring in Monroe two years ago. Frank honorably served in the Vietnam War from October 1968 to October 1969. He worked as an electrical splicer for Con Edison in New York for 37 dedicated years, retiring April 1, 2006. In Frank’s spare time he enjoyed history, antiques, coin collecting, cruising in his 1969 Triumph TR6, western movies, and grilling and cooking. He was a proud Vietnam veteran and a proud member of the Classic Cars Club. Frank was a great man with a delightful sense of humor and enjoyed taking care of his family.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, JoAnn Svoboda, of Monroe; two daughters Krista Thompson, and her husband, Ian, of Farmingdale, and Janine Levitt, and her husband, Ross, of Manalapan; and three grandchildren, Lily Grace Barkow, Ella Rose Thompson, and Brady Parker Levitt.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, May 23, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 9:30 AM Funeral Mass on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Nativity of Our Lord Church, 185 Applegarth Rd, Monroe Township, NJ 08831. Interment will take place at 12:30 PM in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. Memorial contributions in Frank’s name may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 1810 Lanes Mill Road, Brick, NJ 08724.
