Obituary for Lorne E. Titley

Lorne E. Titley, 79, of Manalapan passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2016, just days short of his 80th birthday. Known as Larry to his friends, he was born in Thomas Gore, Quebec, Canada and raised in Harrowsmith, Ontario, Canada. After a short stint with the Barrie Flyers, a farm club with the Boston Bruins, he came to the United States in 1955. He started a career as an industrial electrician/instrument tech with Schweitzer-Kimberly Clark, and then Coca-Cola, retiring in 1996. He had a passion for standardbred race horses and owned many. His favorite was PA Ginny. One of his favorite days was St. Patrick’s Day 1993 when his horse LET’s Breakaway won and paid $118 to win. After his racing days, his next passion was golf and for a couple of years stretch he got in at least a round a week. His golfing highlight was a hole-in-one in 2003 at The Meadows at Middlesex Golf Course.
Lorne was predeceased by his parents, Wilbert and Bernice Titley; brothers, Lexie, Percy, Merlin, Eldon and Albert; and sisters, Dorothy, Lillian, Velda, Muriel and Mary. Surviving are his loving wife of 58 years, Shirley Titley; two daughters, Allison Titley and her husband, Martin Milner of Howell, and Tracy Cichocki and her husband, Charles Cichocki of North Hanover; his son, Cory Titley and Tara Cook of Manalapan; grandsons, Owen Milner, Brian Cichocki and Craig Cichocki; and his two favorite pets, Rewind and Nea.
All arrangements were private and under the direction of Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township.
