Henry “Joe” Parente, 79, of Jackson, NJ and Fort Lauderdale, FL passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Gold Coast Hospice of Broward Hospital, Fort Lauderdale, FL. Henry was born and raised in Brooklyn before moving to New Jersey 23 years ago. He worked at the Fulton Fish Market in Manhattan and then The Bronx for over 30 years, retiring 16 years ago. Henry was a former Sayreville Elk. He spent part of the last 35 winters in Fort Lauderdale. Henry was a loving grandfather, devoted brother, wonderful and caring husband, and just an all-around wonderful man, who took care of everyone.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Grace “Janet" Parente of Jackson, NJ and Fort Lauderdale, FL; his first son, Mark Parente, his wife, Lisa and daughters Tara and Demi of Englishtown, NJ and his younger son, Stephen Parente, his wife, Sarah , sons Henry and Vincent of Brooklyn; his brother, Vincent Parente and his wife, Gayle of Florida; his goddaughter, Carla Genevise of Bel Harbor, Queens; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Thursday, January 21 at 9:00 AM for the procession to St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township for his 10:00 AM Funeral Mass.
