Charles R.  Navarro
Charles R. Navarro, 90, of Howell Township passed away at home on Monday, October 6, 2014. Charles was born in Balo Alto, Puerto Rico and had lived in Brooklyn before moving to Howell Township in 1957. He was a tool and die maker/machinist for Federal Electric Pacific and General Dynamics in Avenel. Charles was a member of the Church of St. Veronica in Howell Township and a Chaplin for the VFW in Howell Township. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran during World War II, serving on the USS Lexington, where he received 11 battle scars and a Presidential Unit Citation.
Charles was predeceased by his wife, Mary Jane Navarro in 2004; and a son, Bruce F. Navarro in 1996. He is survived by two sons, Charles R. Navarro, III of Simi Valley, CA and Stephen E. Navarro of White Bear Lake, MN; a daughter, Michele Navarro of Howell Township; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, October 9, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Friday, October 10, 2014 at 8:30 AM for the procession to the Church of St. Veronica, 4215 Route 9 North, Howell Township for his 9:30 AM Funeral Mass.
