Lydia Ortiz, 79, of Howell Township passed away at home on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 surrounded by her family. Lydia was born in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico and had lived in Sayreville and Manchester before moving to Howell Township. She was a transport aide at St. Peter’s Hospital, New Brunswick until her retirement.
Lydia is survived by her husband of 53 years, Angel R. (Ray) Ortiz; one son Paul and his wife, Jeanne of Kennett Square, PA; one daughter, Laura Ortiz-Knaster and her husband, David of Manalapan; one stepdaughter, Diana Smith and her husband, Bruce of Montana; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren. She was one of ten children and is still survived by two sisters, Leticia Morales and Alicia Roger: and one brother, Edilberto Morales.
Visitation will be held at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, August 22, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 8:15 PM with her funeral service to follow at the funeral home with Pastor Ricardo Alvarado officiating. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 12:30 PM for the procession to Brig. General William C.
