Obituary for Joyce M. Zarsky (Andrews)

Joyce M. Zarsky, 64, of Freehold passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Joyce was born in Brooklyn and had lived in Manalapan for 36 years before moving to Freehold in 2004. Mrs. Zarsky worked for the Monmouth County purchasing department for over 15 years retiring in 2003. She was a member of the Manalapan Heritage Club.
Joyce was an active member and CCD teacher at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church and also part of a Cursillo based prayer group which was a source of inspiration and support for over 40 years. Over the last 15 years she battled rheumatoid arthritis and had a successful lung transplant on December 12, 2007. During her life she had a gift for making people feel special. Her optimism and love of life was an inspiration to all around her.
Joyce was devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was predeceased by her 1st husband Robert B. Walsh, Sr. She is survived by her husband, Walter J. Zarsky of Freehold; two sons, Robert Walsh and his wife, Nancy of Fair Haven and Kevin Walsh and his wife Cori of Howell; a daughter, Jeanine Reitter and her husband, Bart of Schwenksville, PA; three stepsons, Walter Zarsky and his wife, Leah , Tommy Zarsky, and John Zarsky and his wife, Tiernie; and eleven grandchildren whom she adored, Kyla, Matthew, Ryan, Marina, Caroline Joy, Katherine, Kael, Clare, Brielle, Griffin, and Robert Barry Walsh, III.
Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, October 22 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Rite of Commital at the funeral home on Friday, October 23 at 9:00 followed by her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Thomas More, 186 Gordon’s Corner Road, Manalapan. Interment to follow in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, Freehold. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of Joyce may be made to Second Wind Lung Transplant Association, Grd.
