Paul Roman
My name is Paul Roman. I am a Retired Major in the U.S. Army Reserve. LTC Neil Paul served with distinction in various Reserve units during the Cold War. Having both served at different times in the 78th Training Division, we both became interested in the aims, objectives, and mission of the Reserve Officers Association of the United States. We eventually both served as President of the Central Jersey Chapter in the Department of New Jersey. Neil was a stickler for detail and kept copious notes especially when we attended Department of New Jersey meetings. He continued to proudly wear his Class A uniform, as authorized, to various official functions both at Fort Monmouth and Fort Dix. He ascribed wholeheartedly to military order and discipline. Over the years, he became a good friend to me and to many of our more active participants in ROA. He fought quite a battle in regard to his personal health and loved life dearly. He treasured his collection of military memorabilia almost as much as his prized Indian motorcycles. In his last years, when he could no longer attend meetings. He would maintain contact to ensure that he was "up-to-speed" on current ROA & military affairs: A true Patriot. We will all miss him.
