Dorothy A. Wood, 95, of Freehold passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at home. She was born and raised in the Bronx, New York and had lived on Long Island before settling in New Jersey in 1972. Dorothy was a homemaker and liked to travel to the beach in her younger days. She enjoyed listening to music and watching classic movies. Dorothy was a loving wife and mother, always caring for her family.
Dorothy was predeceased by her sons, Robert Wood in 2015 and George Wood III in 2007. She is survived by her husband, George Wood of Freehold; son, Kevin Wood and his wife, Christel of Spain; daughter, Mary Ellen Scott of Medford; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at 9:00 AM for the procession to her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township. Interment will follow in St. Rose Of Lima Catholic Cemetery, 299 Freehold Englishtown Road, Freehold.
