Obituary for Charles E. Gibson

Charles E. Gibson, 78, of Freehold Township passed away at home on Wednesday, June 29, 2017. A lifelong resident of Freehold Township, Charles was born in Neptune in what was known at that time as Fitkin Hospital. He was a member of the Freehold Borough High School football champions, the East Freehold Fire Department, and the Freehold First Aid Auxiliary. Charles was a farmer in rural Freehold Township until the late 1980’s. He then went on to work as the head custodian of the Marlboro Township school system.
He was predeceased by his wife, Carole M. Freeman Gibson in 1999. Charles is survived by his son, Charles “Chuck” Gibson II and his wife, Rose Ellen of Freehold Township; daughter, Virginia “Ginnie” Vota and her husband, Peter of Freehold Borough; grandchildren, Robert Vota, Nicholas Vota and Allison Vota; brother, Ellsworth Gibson of Freehold Township; one sister, Evelyn Ketcham of Jackson.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM funeral service on Friday, July 7, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Scott Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan. For those who desire, contributions in memory of Charles can be made to the Freehold First Aid Squad, 16 Spring Street, Freehold or the Dementia Society Of America, 114 N. Main Street (P.O.
