Obituary for John T. Layton Sr.

John T.  Layton Sr.
John T. Layton, Sr.,93, a lifelong resident of Howell passed away at home on Sunday, June 25, 2017. He was employed by the Department of Public Works, “keeping the streets of Howell clean” as a street sweeper and snow plow driver for over 25 years, retiring in 1990. John trained standardbred horses and was a jack-of-all-trades. He enjoyed farming, freshwater fishing and scrap metaling.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ruby Layton in 2007; and his brother, Clarence Boyce. John is survived by his son, John Layton, Jr. of Howell; daughter, Janet Layton and her husband, Mike Efendiev of Howell; grandsons, Michael Efendiev and his wife, Karen of Jackson, and Matthew Efendiev of Howell; great-granddaughter, Valentina; and sisters, Sarah, Ali and Bertha.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM with his 11:00 AM funeral service to follow.
