Obituary for Gerald E. Conner

Gerald E.  Conner
Gerald E. “Jerry” Conner, 73, of Farmingdale passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center surrounded by his family. Jerry was born and raised in Troutville, VA before settling in Farmingdale in 1972.
Jerry had a successful career in the insurance industry for over 30 years and was the co-owner of First Jersey Insurance Company in Freehold. Jerry enjoyed bowling at the Howell and Ocean Lanes and he was instrumental in launching Parker Bohn III’s career as a very successful professional bowler.
Jerry was active in his community enjoying his many hobbies. He was a past Exalted Ruler of the Howell Elks Lodge #2515, and a member of the Ocean Lodge #89, F. & A. M. Jerry had a very successful career racing the #45 street stock car for many years at Wall Stadium. He enjoyed sharing racing with his two sons and most recently owned Kodie Conner Racing in NC and loved watching Kodie race. Other hobbies included softball, bowling, traveling, coin collecting, and playing the lottery. He spent most mornings with his granddaughter Madison, buying scratch-off lottery tickets.
Above all Jerry was a devoted husband, loving father, and adoring Pop-Pop. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth J. Conner; and his brother, Wayne A. Conner. Jerry is survived by two sons, Pride Conner and his wife, Beth of Howell; and Shannon Conner and his wife, Melissa of Kannapolis, NC; six grandchildren, Keryn Northerner, Carsin Conner, Madison Conner, Zak Conner, Kodie Conner, and Dakota Conner; and two nieces, Tracy Huffman and Tina Bonds; numerous other nieces and nephews; and his business partner and brother-in-arms, Frank Reilly.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, June 26, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM funeral service on Tuesday, June 27, 2017.
