Lei “Charlie” Cao, 54, of Howell Township passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 6, 2017. He was born in Jinan, Shandong, China and came to the United States in 1988. Lei lived in Michigan and New York City before moving to Eatontown, NJ and eventually settled in Howell in 1995. He was educated at Shandong University, Michigan State, and the City College of New York. Lei was a Principal Member of the Technical Staff for A T & T, Middletown for over 10 years. Prior to that, he worked for IBM, Comcast, and McAfee. Lei was also a volunteer at NJ PAC. Running was not just exercise for Lei, it was a devotion. A true Renaissance Man, he was a wine enthusiast, world traveler, computer wizard, lover of the Arts, and had a passion for Classical Music. Lei was a life learner. He loved his wife, his children and his family.
Lei is survived by his wife, Kunling Jiang of Howell; daughter, Mona Cao of Howell; two sons, Albert Cao and Andrew Cao of Howell; parents, Zhongshan Cao and Jing Sun of Freehold; two brothers, Peng Cao of China, and Yu Cao of Queens, NY.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, June 11, 2017 from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 PM. Interment will be private. 曹垒，1962年8月28日出生于中国山东省济南市，2017年6月6日病逝于美国新泽西Howell，享年54岁。
1984年本科毕业于山东工业大学计算机系（现山东大学）同年开始在山东电视大学工作并担任团委书记。1988年底来到美国，先后曾居住于密歇根州，纽约州，最后定居于新泽西州至今。先后就学于密歇根州立大学和纽约市立大学并于1992年获得计算机科学硕士学位。曾就职于McAfee，IBM，Comcast和AT&T。在AT&T工作10几年，作为资深工程师受到领导和同事的一致好评。他多才多艺爱好广泛，包括旅游，跑步，电脑，红酒鉴赏 以及艺术尤其是古典音乐等等。他积极参与并支持华人社团活动，其家庭对所在社区中文学校做出了积极贡献，他本人曾任新泽西山东同乡会理事。除此之外他还在NJPAC担任义工。
他的一生热爱生活，勤劳能干，孝敬父母，帮助兄弟，深爱自己妻子和儿女。尤其在子女的教育上呕心沥血，倾其所有。他以极强的毅力和责任心为整个大家庭做出了巨大贡献。他的去世是整个家庭的巨大损失。
