Obituary for Roy J. Young

Roy J. Young, 57, of Jackson passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 25, 2017. Roy was born in Hackensack, raised in East Rutherford and lived in Teaneck and Norwood before settling in Jackson. A retired Lieutenant with the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department, he also owned Snap Happy Photo Booth. In addition to volunteering his time as President of the Jackson Memorial Band Parent Association, Roy enjoyed his family, traveling, camping and telling jokes. He was a fun-loving and passionate man who had a servant’s heart. In his spare time, Roy enjoyed cooking and hosting the Grey Gourmet on YouTube.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Young, Sr. in 2001; and his mother, Joan Young in 2015. Roy is survived by his wife of 26 years, Lisa A. Young of Jackson; children, Nicholas Young of Jackson, Elizabeth Young of Jackson, and Brendan Young of Jackson; siblings, Bruce Young and his wife, Susan, Janice Minervini and her husband, Dino, Wes Young and his wife, Debbie, and Judy Young; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, May 29th and Tuesday, May 30th, 2017 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM funeral service on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Jackson Baptist Church, 360 Bennetts Mills Road, Jackson. Interment will follow in Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan.
