Stephen Francis  Donovan
Stephen Donovan, 52, of Edison passed away unexpectedly at JFK Medical Center, Edison on Wednesday, May 24, 2017. Stephen was born in the Throggs Neck Section of the Bronx and lived in Freehold until settling in Edison. A graduate of Freehold Township High School Class of 1983 and Rutgers and Kean Universities, he was a retired school teacher from Irvington until his retirement. Stephen loved to cook and adored his dog, Screwey Louie.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Donovan. Stephen is survived by his wife, Valarie Donovan; his parents, Donald and Maureen Donovan of Freehold; siblings, Laura Larkin and her husband, Tom of Brighton, Colorado, Brian Donovan and his wife, Lori of Columbus, NJ, Eileen Sak and her husband, Ted of Doylestown, PA; Daniel Donovan and his wife, Allison of Macomb, MI, and Michele Hagy and her husband, Ed of Stroudsberg, PA; five nieces; nine nephews; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and brother-in-law, Vito Armato and his wife, Maureen of Staten Island, NY.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:30 AM Funeral Mass on May 31, 2017 at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Stephen’s name may be made to your local animal shelter.
