Obituary for Harvey W. Ritchie

Harvey W. Ritchie, 89, passed away May 2, 2017, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold, NJ, surrounded by his loving family. Harvey was born March 14, 1928 in Trenton, IL, the son of William and Marion Ritchie. Harvey graduated from Springfield High School, Springfield,IL, He received a BS degree from McKendree College, Lebanon, IL, and an MBA degree from Sangamon State University, Springfield, IL. Harvey was employed by Central Illinois Public Service, retiring in 1991, after 30 years,. He was a Korean War army veteran and a member of Springfield Masonic Lodge #4, He was an avid sports fan and loved playing golf.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Carol Ritchie Knizner. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Melva Ritchie, Freehold, NJ, sons Thomas, Chicago, David (Sadie), Howell, NJ, Donald, Lancaster, PA, son-in-law Robert Knizner, TX, and grandchildren, Katherine I. Ritchie, Katherine E. Cerniglia and her husband Robert, Christine Ritchie, Scott Ritchie and Joseph, Jeffrey, and Samantha Knizner. Also surviving are several cousins, including Miss Jean Ritchie of Trenton, IL.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:00 A M Memorial service at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road Freehold Township on Saturday, May 13, 2017. The family would appreciate donations made in memory of Harvey to a charity of your choice
