Susan Howard Parker, 68, of Jackson, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017 in Wall. She was born in Springfield, MA on July 14, 1948 and grew up in West Springfield, MA. Susan graduated from the University of Massachusetts with Bachelor and Master Degrees in Mathematics. After her marriage in 1972, she moved to New Jersey and raised her family in Shrewsbury, where she served on the Board of Education for nine years. Since 1997, she was a math teacher at Hillel Yeshiva, Ocean Township. She was an active member for many years of the Red Bank First Baptist Church, where she served as Director of Christian Education. In later years she attended the Reformed Church of Tinton Falls. Her happiest role was always as a devoted mother and grandmother.
Susan was predeceased by her parents, Madeline and L. Brewster Howard. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Richard Parker; three children, Karen Parker of Howell, Scott Parker and his wife Ann, of Howell, and Megan Parker and her husband, Matt of Shrewsbury; five grandchildren, Violet, Lyla, June, Leo, Lucas; and three brothers, L. Brewster Howard, Jr. and his wife, Rina, Philip Howard and his wife, Karen, and Robert Howard and his wife, Betty; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524) Freehold Township on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 11:00 am funeral service on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the Full Gospel Church of Wall, 2649 E Hurley Pond Rd, Wall Township, NJ 07719. Cemetery arrangements are incomplete at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Susan’s name may be made to The Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, 3300 Route 66, Neptune, NJ 07753.
