Michael D’Alessio, 76, of South Amboy passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy. He was born in Italy and at the age of 15, came to the United States and settled in Pennsylvania. Mike lived in New York City and Brooklyn before taking up residence in New Jersey in 1972. A hot rod driver known as Mike the Rebel, he enjoyed racing at Raceway Park, Englishtown. His cars, he had a 1966 Chevelle and a 1955 Chevy which was his pride. Mike was a great gardener growing his plants, vegetables and flowers.
Mike is survived by his wife of 52 years, Theresa D’Alessio of South Amboy; daughter, Michele Praet and her husband, Richard of Freehold Township; sons, Michael D’Alessio and his wife, Carlyn of Mission Viejo, CA, and Salvatore D’Alessio of Asbury Park; and five grandchildren, Jillian Praet, Michael D’Alessio, Jessica Praet, Gianna Praet and Michael Praet.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 12:00 to 3:30 PM with his memorial service to follow at 3:30 PM.
