Paul R.  Jones
Paul R. Jones, 71, of Lakewood, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at the Ocean Medical Center. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, lived in Howell, Freehold, and Farmingdale before settling in Lakewood 15 years ago. Paul started his career as a Lakewood Police Officer, then moved to the Monmouth County Medical Examiner’s Office. He retired from the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office in 2008 after 35 years of dedicated service as a forensic detective. He taught body and bone recovery and forensic studies at Georgian Court College. Paul worked with special needs children and hosted an annual pig roast through the Family Resource Associates of New Jersey. He belonged to many clubs and organizations, including, the Lakewood Foresters of America, American Legion in Lakewood, Jackson Moose Lodge, Farmingdale First Aid Squad, Navesink Masonic Lodge No. 9 in Red Bank, and two time exalted ruler of the Lakewood Elks.
Paul was predeceased by his two brothers, John Jones and Herbert Jones; a sister, Marlene Williams; and parents, Herbert Jones and Annmarie Jones. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Nancy Jones of Lakewood; two daughters, Elizabeth Hurst and her husband, Johnny of Farmingdale, Nancy Jones and her husband, Nathan Bahner of Delaware; four step children, Judy Ryno and her husband, Kevin of Bangor, PA, Cathy Correa and her husband, Jim of Bridgewater, John Paul Cottrell of Lakewood, and Jeannie Cottrell of Lakewood; six grandchildren; a sister, Kathy Davison of Howell; and four brothers, Glenn Jones of Florida, Albert Jones of Connecticut, Robert Jones of Connecticut, and James Jones of New York.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524) Freehold Township on Monday, March 13, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 8:30 PM with his funeral service to follow at 8:30 PM.
