George Michael Gdovin, 32, of Howell passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 5, 2017 in Galloway Township. He was born in Secaucus and lived in Jersey City before settling in Howell in 1985. Voted most friendly in the graduating class of 2003, he attended Howell Township High School where he played Junior Varsity and Varsity basketball, and was a peer counselor. George continued his education at Stockton University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and minored in Holocaust Studies. With only half a semester left before becoming a history teacher, George was a student teacher at Freehold Township High School for a short time. He was an actor and a model, who appeared in various commercials, and movies. He shared a very close bond with his brothers, was in constant contact with his family, and enjoyed Sunday dinners and family nights. George was a devoted Nascar fan, loved movies and video games, hiking and was a passionate beer brewer. He was a respectful young man who gave sage advice, always put others first and he will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

George is survived by his parents, George and Dorothy Gdovin of Howell; brothers, James Anthony Gdovin and Tyler Nicholas Gdovin, both of Howell; fiancée, Samantha Jilanne Matthies of Seaside Park; his paternal grandmother, Helen Gdovin of Jersey City; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, March 10, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM funeral service at Calvary Lighthouse Church, 1133 East County Line Road, Lakewood, NJ 08701 on Saturday, March 11, 2017. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of George may be made to MS Society, New Jersey Metro Chapter, 1480 U.S. Highway 9, Suite 301, Woodbridge, NJ 07095.
