Obituary for Audrey Thompson

Audrey J. Thompson, 92, of Brick went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Ocean Medical Center. She was born in Spring Lake and in 1943 she graduated from Asbury Park High School. In the early 40’s she played basketball, was a cheerleader and part of the swim team. Audrey was a member of CrossPoint Church, and Queen Mother to the Red Hat Ladies. She was fluent in sign language and the interrupter for the deaf ministry. Audrey loved the Lord, and one of her biggest joys was becoming a great-great-grandmother. She had a great sense of humor and her heart was full of love.
Audrey was predeceased by her first husband, James Gravatt in 1972; second husband, William H. Thompson in 2002; and son in law, Glenn Riley in 2014. She is survived by her three children, Chet Gravatt and his wife, Charlotte of Lakewood, Steven Gravatt and his wife, Delores of Bayville, Lynn Bloxom and her husband, Doug of Brick; step-children, Linda Riley of Georgia, Elaine Steele and her husband, John of Tennessee, and Karen Griffiths and her husband, George of Tennessee; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at CrossPoint Church, 462 Squankum YellowBrook Road, Farmingdale, NJ 07727 on Tuesday, February, 28 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 11:00 AM funeral service on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at CrossPoint Church. Interment will follow at Monmouth Memorial Park. For those who desire, memorial contribution in Audrey’s name may be made to CrossPoint Church.
