Carlton Dey "Butch" "Butch"  Gordon Jr.
Carlton Dey “Butch” Gordon, Jr., 79, of Davenport, FL and Farmingdale, NJ passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Celebrations Hospital in Florida. Butch was born in Hightstown, moved to Farmingdale in 1947 and had lived there until moving to Davenport last year. He attended Farmingdale Elementary School and was a 1956 graduate of Freehold High School. He was a member of the Boy Scout Troop 13 from 1947 to 1957. Butch retired in 2000 from the Howell Township Board of Education as a security guard after twenty-five years of dedicated service. He was also a Special Police Officer (Badge #300) for the Howell Township Police Department for thirty-five years retiring in 2010. During that time, Butch also worked for Fee+Mason Pipe Hangers and Phelps Dodge for many years. He was a volunteer for the Farmingdale-Howell First Aid Squad from 1957 to 2015. Most recently, Butch was a member of the C.A.P. for the Davenport Sheriff’s Department.
Butch was predeceased by his parents, Cartlton Dey Gordon, Sr. and Elsbeth (nee Parker) Gordon and two brothers, James Gordon and Joseph Gordon. He is survived by his wife, whom he married on September 14, 1957 and has been devoted to for past sixty years, Lillian Louise Gordon (nee Liefke); three children, Marie Gordon Smith and her husband, Jeffrey of Farmingdale, Carlton Dey “Jr.” Gordon, III and his wife, Lynda of Farmingdale and Deborah Gordon of Clermont; six grandchildren, Darren Brown, Courtney Gordon, Cody Gordon, Hunter Smith, Arianna Smith, and Isabella Gordon; his half-sister, Iris Renee Thompson; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the funeral home for his 11:00 AM funeral service. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Farmingdale. For those who desire, memorial contributions in Butch’s name may be made to the Farmingdale-Howell First Aid Squad, P.O. Box 591, Farmingdale New Jersey 07727.
