James J.  Cavazzini
James J. Cavazzini, 72, of Manalapan passed away at The Brookside in Freehold on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. He was born in New York City, raised in Queens eventually settled in Manalapan 18 years ago. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Jim had a successful career in the cable industry prior to being a professor at Monmouth University and Brookdale Community College. In his spare time, you could find Jim on the golf or tennis courts. He enjoyed traveling, sampling wine and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, Gino and Lillian Cavazzini. Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years, Geraldine Cavazzini of Manalapan; two sons, Craig Cavazzini and his wife, Kelley of Waterbury, CT, Christopher Cavazzini of Clinton; two grandchildren, Lauren Cavazzini and Joseph Cavazzini of Washington; sisters-in-law, Catherine Lewis and Patricia Maxwell, both of Manalapan; brother-in-law, William Fitzgerald and his wife, Patricia of Manchester; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524) Freehold Township on Sunday, February 12, 2017 from 1:00 to 4:30 PM with his funeral service to follow at 4:30 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his burial of ashes in Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Arneytown on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 10:30 AM. For those who desire, memorial contributions in Jim’s name may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 400 Morris Avenue, Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834.
