Obituary for William P. Hurley

William P.  Hurley
William P. Hurley, 89, of Howell passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 4, 2017. Born in Boston, MA, he lived in Staten Island for 30 years before moving to Howell in 1998. He was a business office machine repairman, working for Underwood. He completed his career as a mechanic working for the United States Postal Service, Staten Island. A proud veteran, William served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and in the United States Army during the Korean War, having been stationed in Germany, Korea and Japan. He was a member of the Howell Senior Center and Men’s Club at The Villages.
He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Rose M. Hurley in 2014. William is survived by his three daughters, Denise Morgan and her husband, Robert of New Windsor, NY, Karen Pierce and her husband, Lester of Lincroft, and Ellen DiMarco and her husband, Philip of Howell; two special nieces who he raised, Gail Morgan and her husband, Richard and their children, Alyssa and Richard of Freehold and Linda Senanayake and her husband, Harsh and their child, Amy of Howell; eight grandchildren, William Morgan and his wife, Maddy, Timothy Morgan and his wife, Randi, Kathleen Pierce and her husband, Jason Levy, Megan Pierce, Dana Pierce, Joseph DiMarco and his fiancée, Jennifer, Matthew DiMarco and Philip DiMarco; one great-grandson, Liam; and his sister, Mary Milano of MA.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, January 9, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 9:15 AM for the procession to his 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 31 Asbury Road, Farmingdale. Interment will follow in Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in William’s name may be made to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America, National Processing Center, PO Box 1245, Albert Lea, MN 56007-9976.
