Obituary for Genevieve Wieczorek (Kobrzynski)

Genevieve Wieczorek (Kobrzynski)
Genevieve “Gene” (Kobrzynski) Wieczorek, 94, died peacefully December 10, 2016 with family at her side. Genevieve was born March 12, 1922 in her parents’ home on Water Street in South River. In 1946, she married the love of her life, Joe, and proudly raised seven children in the house next door. Genevieve worked as a seamstress in a garment factory, producing clothing for such lines as Evan Picone and John Meyer, and rising through the ranks to sample maker and ultimately forewoman. She spent hours at her sewing machine, long after her factory days were finished, making and altering clothes for family and friends. Genevieve was a communicant of St. Mary of Ostrabrama for many years, loved the beach, anything chocolate, and was an avid reader. She relished her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother, and knew the best way to bring her family together was with a homemade meal that she lovingly prepared.
Genevieve was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joe, her parents; brothers, Chester and Stanley; sisters, Lottie, Jenny, and Bertha; son, Robert; son-in-law, Wayne; and granddaughter, Jill. Surviving are her son, Joseph Wieczorek and wife Maureen; five daughters, Lois Matty and husband Lou, Carol Wasiowich and husband Pete, Janice Krilla and fiancé Thomas McGough, Lori Drew and Bill Thompson, and Marlene Anson and Glenn Weaks; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524) Freehold Township on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 from 10:00 to 12:00 Noon with her 12:00 Noon funeral service to follow at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery & Mausoleum, Lakewood. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Genevieve to Center for Hope, 1900 Raritan Road, Scotch Plains, NJ 07076 would be appreciated.
