Louise H. Faber Smith, 91, of Freehold Township passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was a community volunteer, serving the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs, honored with a Life Time Parent-Teacher Association certification for her outstanding work with children. She was a member of the Molly Pitcher Woman’s Club of Freehold Township, Fifth District Past Presidents’ Club, NJSFWC State Board Ex Club, and holds a life membership with the New Jersey Parent-Teacher Association. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Freehold serving in many capacities, such as, a Christian education teacher for 25 years. Other community involvements included the Georgia School House Commission, Monmouth Battlefield State Park Spring site, and Freehold Area Hospital fundraising. Louise devoted her life to her family, friends and community. She was a volunteer for over 50 years, lending a helping hand to those in need.
Louise was predeceased by her husband, T. Fred Smith, and parents, Caroline and Charles Faber of Cream Ridge; brother, Charles T. Faber of Cream Ridge; and sister, Lydia Randall of Cream Ridge. Louise is survived by her dear daughter, Kathryn L. Smith of Freeland, MI; loving son, Kenneth F. Smith and his wife, Anne C. of Freehold Township; grandson, Justin T. Harnden of Cedar Springs, MI; brother, Robert J. Faber and his wife, Patricia of Cream Ridge; sisters, Caroline D. Olbis of Freehold Township, and Anna T. Reid of Hamilton; several nieces and nephews in New Jersey; cousins in Luxembourg, Europe; and special friends, Malcolm and Terry Parker.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524) Freehold Township on Sunday, December 4, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to gather on Monday, December 5, 2016 at the funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 AM with her funeral service to follow. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold. Memorial contributions in Louise’s name may be made to the Memorial Fund of the First Baptist Church of Freehold, 81 West Main Street, Freehold, NJ 07728.
