Obituary for Raymond Francis Green

Raymond Francis Green, 94, of Howell Township passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at CentraState Medical Center. Born in Howell, he graduated from Howell High School in June 1940 and joined the US Army Air Corps on September 23, 1940. Raymond began his military service at the Aircraft Mechanics School, Chaneutte Field, IL. From June 1941 to January 1944, he was assigned to the 20th Troop Carrier Transport in Panama. He was at that location when Pearl Harbor was attacked on December 7, 1941. In 1944 he was stationed with the 805TH Unit at Alliance, Nebraska, where he was promoted to a Technical Sergeant. In June 1945 he served on the West Coast dropping paratrooper firefighters in Walla Walla, Washington. The War ended in August 1945 and on October 3, 1945, Raymond was honorably discharged from the military. He held various jobs but settled at Bendix, Eatontown, in 1950. When he retired from Bendix in 1985, he was a Supervisor in the Assembly Department. Raymond had many stories to tell from his time in the Military and Bendix.
Raymond’s best friend in life was Mary Elizabeth “Diddie” Green. They married on April 29, 1946. They were blessed with three daughters and later with sons-in-law, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Raymond will be greatly missed by his family. Raymond and Mary enjoyed many years together after he retired from Bendix. Raymond took superb care of Mary through her illnesses and aging. He has missed her immensely since she passed away on September 6, 2015. Raymond is a member of West Farms Methodist Church.
Raymond was predeceased by his parents, his sister and her husband, and his son-in-law, Alan Nuccio. He is survived by three daughters, Judith Fraser and her husband, William, of Red Bank, Nancy Nuccio of Eatontown, and Debra Decker of Arlington, TX; three grandchildren, Jennifer Kunycky and her husband, Mark, of Wall, Rebecca Fraser-Thill and her husband, Brian Thill, of Cumberland, ME, and Joseph Nuccio and his wife, Michelle, of Manalapan; six great-grandchildren; and his niece, Bonnie Mumpower and her husband, Rick, of Howell Township.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, December 5, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM funeral service at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 6, 2016. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Farmingdale.
