Lavina O.  Ellis (Ostranger)
Lavina O. Ellis, 89, of Howell Township passed away on Monday, January 27, 2014 at Brandywine at Colts Neck. Lavina was born in and a lifelong Howell Township resident. She worked in the parts department and was a bookkeeper at Matthews Chevrolet in Farmingdale. Lavina was also a bookkeeper at Arthur Brisbane Child Treatment Center. She enjoyed baking and made wedding, anniversary and birthday cakes for so many people. Lavina and her husband, Franklyn enjoyed collecting rocks.
She was predeceased by her husband, Franklyn R. “Lyn” Ellis in 2012. Lavina is survived by a son, Steve Ellis and his wife, Sue of Farmingdale; a daughter, Barbara Ellis and her husband, Martin Toates of Ocean Beach, Fire Island, NY; a granddaughter, Melanie Williamson and her husband, Sten of Howell; a grandson, Steven Ellis of Howell; two great grandchildren, Coleman and Landon; a sister-in-law, Kathryn Amalfa and her husband, Nick of Lakewood; and many nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be held at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, January 31, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at the funeral home on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 11:30 AM. Interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Farmingdale. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Lavina may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 400 Morris Avenue, Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834.
